An antique diamond necklace worn by Queen Elizabeth II at her coronation and linked to Marie Antoinette’s French scandal could fetch up to £2 million at auction, according to the auction house’s website Sotheby’s
The 300-carat necklace was also worn by members of the Marquess of Anglesey family, who owned it until the 1960s when they sold the diamonds, at the coronation of King George VI.
The piece, which has not been on public display for half a century, is estimated to fetch between £1,348,416 and £2,097,536. The necklace will be auctioned at Sotheby’s in Geneva in November.
The luxurious necklace is adorned with 500 diamonds attached to three strands. It will embark on a world tour, starting at Sotheby’s in London and then going to Hong Kong, New York, Singapore, Taipei and Dubai.
