The use of indoor plants, home textiles and furniture is the most cost-effective way to properly zone a space, Ksenia Kuznetsova, designer and product director of interior company Mr.Doors, told socialbites.ca.

“Following the popularity of the dialogue between the interior and the exterior, adding indoor plants to the interior is an integral part of modern solutions today. However, few people use plants as a particularly successful zoning method. The designer can thus highlight the living room area, where a special atmosphere of comfort and relaxation is created, or in a studio apartment they can separate the bedroom with a “living wall”.

Kuznetsova added that it is better not to use artificial plants, as they can make the room cold and soulless.

“For example, in studio apartments, a good solution for separating the kitchen from the living room would be the integration of a bar counter or dining group. Also, do not forget to use storage systems for zoning, such as cabinets, shelves, etc. They will not only help to successfully separate the necessary zones of the room, but will also allow you to place all the necessary items for everyday life, ” Kuznetsova explained.

The designer also drew attention to the use of home textiles for zoning space.

“They can easily separate a bedroom area or hide a closet space. This technique is also interesting because the fabrics can be easily and regularly changed according to the season or mood. This will visually update the space and give it a completely new rhythm and mood,” concluded Kuznetsova.
