When choosing a wardrobe for your bedroom, you need to start not only from the general style of the interior, but also soberly assess the size of the room and, most importantly, understand what exactly you plan to store in the wardrobe. Hoff designer Svetlana Kosareva told socialbites.ca about this.
“If the bedroom is small, give preference to models with sliding doors; they do not require extra space when opening. For larger rooms, wardrobes with hinged doors are suitable. And remember that the capacity of a wardrobe depends not only on its size, but also on the correctly selected contents. You do not need to buy a large wardrobe; it is important to correctly calculate the number of shelves, drawers and the size of the rod,” the expert began.
The designer also emphasizes that it is quite difficult to find a ready-made wardrobe that suits the dimensions of the bedroom and the size and type of items to be stored in it, so he recommends paying attention to modular storage systems.
“They are assembled according to the designer’s principle from ready-made elements – you can choose the color of the case, different facade options, door types (hinged or sectional), handle design and, most importantly, completely assemble it. Adjust the internal contents of the cabinet to suit your needs,” he suggested.
Svetlana Kosareva emphasized that it is easy to add or change interior elements in modular cabinets if desired.
“And if you want to change the overall style of the interior, you do not need to buy a new wardrobe; just attach new facades and handles to the body. Choose new handles, taking into account the number and diameter of mounting holes left from previous fittings,” he added.
The designer recommends paying attention to fashionable facades with various milling options, as well as currently popular doors with a matte velvety soft-touch coating in trendy beige and olive tones. They will fit perfectly into modern, concise interiors and will suit different styles depending on the chosen color, texture and facade milling option.
“For example, a wardrobe with a dark anthracite-coloured body with vertically milled oak-look fronts is suitable for a loft-style bedroom. Beige doors with a soft-touch finish will be a good addition to interiors in a warm minimalism style, and the combination of wooden cabinets with white fronts will appeal to Scandi lovers,” he says.
Also, the expert recommends checking the fittings.
“If the handles are easy to replace if necessary, then you should not save on fasteners and closers: they must be of high quality and reliable, the doors must open easily and silently, the drawers must slide out and in smoothly and effortlessly,” concluded Svetlana Kosareva.
