The modern cosmetic industry offers many products for body shaping and modeling. Most often, Russians choose massage creams, with hot wraps in second place in popularity, and cold wraps in third.

But is it possible to reduce the volume of “problem areas” or get rid of cellulite with the help of a cream? Klazko aesthetic medicine clinic cosmetologist Zhanna Shakhnazaryan explains that for such cosmetic products to be effective, fight cellulite and have a modeling effect, they must penetrate deep into the epidermis. For this ability, according to him, certain components are responsible for breaking down body fat and stimulating blood flow and lymph flow – they should be sought in the composition of the cream.

“The main ingredients that stimulate blood and lymph flow are ivy extract, camphor, capsicum, citrus essential oils, vitamins K and P, horse chestnut, ginkgo biloba,” he lists.

Shahnazaryan adds that anti-cellulite products claimed for better fat breakdown should contain lipolytic ingredients like caffeine, fucus, phosphatidylcholine, algae, lotus extract, guarana, ginger extract, and L-carnitine. Secondly, according to him, it not only breaks down fat, but also turns it into energy, triggering the mechanism of burning calories.

“Lotus extract slows down body fat formation. Algae contribute to the breakdown of adipose tissue due to its high iodine content. “Guarana has the same property,” he says.

The beautician notes that, among other things, high-quality products should always contain a complex of peptides. He explains this by the fact that in addition to stimulating the production of collagen and elastin, the peptides serve as a kind of “carrier” of other active ingredients.

“Thanks to this “miracle conductor”, the product is able to penetrate into the deep layers of the epidermis. It is worth noting that the development and production of peptide components is expensive, so you should not expect an effective effect from a cream for 500 rubles. Unless, of course, you want all this to lie uselessly on the surface of the skin, ”she summed up.

According to dermatologist-cosmetologist Svetlana Rozinskaya, leading specialist of the Semeynaya clinical network, anti-cellulite and contouring creams work and give good results only in combination with proper nutrition and active physical activity. He adds that if you add regular massage and hardware procedures to all this, the effect will be more pronounced.

“Only such an integrated approach can be considered a full-fledged anti-cellulite program. So even in the early stages of cellulite, you shouldn’t expect your skin to become smooth from just one cream, as the cream is an adjuvant,” she explains.

According to the doctor, corrective body creams are most effective for stage 1-2 cellulite. He explains that since almost all women have subcutaneous fat and it does not depend on the physique, doctors consider the first stage to be the physiological norm. The second stage, according to him, is the “orange peel”, which manifests itself in the form of tubercles.

“These phases are easily remedied if you use cosmetics, massage, eat right, and add moderate exercise to your regimen. With more pronounced problems, with cellulite of 3-4 degrees, this will not be enough and it is necessary to connect hardware techniques, ”she thinks.

Dermatovenereologist Ekaterina Vasilyeva, chief physician of the Artleo aesthetic medicine clinic, agrees: corrective cosmetics are a good addition to care procedures. But only. According to him, any cream acts on the dermis at the level of the epidermis, and cellulite is subcutaneous fat, which cosmetic preparations cannot reach.

“To put it bluntly, no – the cream cannot defeat cellulite, because it cannot affect subcutaneous fat. However, with proper nutrition and physical activity, it can be a good addition and help in the treatment of aesthetic problems,” says the doctor.

Vasilyeva adds that such products, as a rule, have a lymphatic drainage effect (that is, they remove excess fluid), due to which an illusory feeling is created that the body is stretched and defects are smoothed out.

“Monotherapy with these creams can provide a temporary visual effect, nothing more. But this visibility only lasts for a few hours,” he explains.

At the same time, those who have recently lost a lot of weight, in his opinion, cannot do without such products.

“Skin turgor is reduced when there is a sudden weight loss and these funds are definitely needed to support it,” the doctor says.
