American coffee shop brand Starbucks has launched the Rich Yearly Salted Latte in China. This was reported by CNN.
The drink combines Dongpo Braised Pork Flavored Sauce with espresso and steamed milk, as well as Braised Pork Belly Sauce. According to the app, the drink costs 68 yuan ($9.45). Photos of the drink show dark red sauce poured over latte foam and a square piece of pork on a skewer placed on the rim of the mug.
“Eating meat means prosperity in the coming year,” the ad said.
The company added that the drink “brings traditional holiday traditions to coffee and creates unexpected salty and sweet flavors.” The latte is available at Starbucks Reserve stores across China.
Lunar New Year is one of the biggest annual holidays in Asia. During this period, people all over China return home to celebrate with their families. According to government data, 474 million trips were made during this year’s travel season.
