Pop star Taylor Swift won the title of person of the year, beating Hollywood hitters Barbie and King Charles III. The cover with his photo was published on the Time publication’s Instagram (the owner of the Meta company is known as an extremist and is banned in Russia).
On Wednesday, December 6, Time magazine named Taylor Swift Person of the Year.
“Electing one person to represent the eight billion people on the planet is no easy task. We chose the one that represents joy. The one who brings light to the world. It was like the weather, it was everywhere,” wrote Sam Jacobs, the magazine’s editor-in-chief.
Taylor Swift beat out Vladimir Putin, Charles III and other finalists announced on the show this week.
“Swift’s accomplishments as an artist—cultural and commercial—are so vast that listing them seems almost pointless,” the magazine writes.
Time gives this award to the person, group or concept that has made the biggest impact on the world in the last 12 months. Introduced as a marketing gimmick in the 1920s, the award continues to create excitement as print weekly magazines struggle to stay relevant.
Previously repped by Taylor Swift answered to rumors about the singer’s secret wedding.
