A study published in the journal Personality and Individual Differences found that women who wear high heels are perceived by others as sexier, physically more attractive, more feminine, and higher-status. This has been reported New York post.
Researchers at Bucknell University interviewed a group of 448 participants who were shown silhouettes of two women, with and without heels. Participants in the experiment were then asked to rate the women on a number of characteristics, including physical attractiveness, femininity, social competence, and others.
A woman wearing high heels was perceived by the majority of respondents as more attractive and of higher status. “While women’s fashion is constantly evolving, this study correlates well with previous studies showing that men perceive women with high heels as more attractive than women with flat shoes,” the report says.
Researchers have developed that wearing high heels does not affect the perception of other character traits, nor does it indicate health or intelligence. The authors of the study concluded that women with heels may look more attractive, as wearing shoes alters the curvature of the lumbar spine, which lifts the breasts and hips.
