II. Elizabeth will not deprive Prince Andrew of the title of Duke of York despite public pressure. The post writes about it Sun.
Royal sources said His Royal Highness would “absolutely not force” Prince Andrew to relinquish the title of duke given to him in 1986.
“The Queen is definitely not going to take any steps in that direction,” the source said.
She added that Prince Andrew has retired from public life and has already lost several titles, and that the queen’s position “doesn’t deviate from that”.
It comes after York Central constituency Labor MP Rachel Maskell announced that she was meeting with House of Commons officials to explore ways to force Prince Andrew to relinquish the title of Duke of York. A parliamentary act is needed to deprive the queen’s son of the last honorary title – that is, the relevant law must be passed by both the House of Commons and the House of Lords.
Prince Andrew was relieved of another title this week after the City of York stripped him of the title of honorary city representative.
