Gastronomy guide Travel Atlas has published a rating of world cuisines for 2022, with Russia in 58th place. The full list is published at: area guide.
The rating was compiled by votes from users who evaluated the traditional dishes, characteristic ingredients and most common drinks of each country.
The world’s top ten cuisines were Italian, Greek, Spanish, Japanese, Indian, Mexican, Turkish, American, French, and Peruvian, respectively. Iceland (91st), Canada (92nd), Latvian (93rd), Moroccan (94th) and Norwegian (95th) cuisines took the last place.
The guide named pies, ravioli, cereals, pancakes, jam, beef stroganoff, honey cake, sauerkraut, barbecue and Olivier salad among the most popular dishes of Russian cuisine. Also in this list are dishes from the Russian regions – echpochmak and elesh (Tatarstan), Avar khinkal (Dagestan), buuzy (Buryatia) and stroganina (Yakutia).
The most popular products are kefir and caviar of various sturgeon fish.
