Earlier reports indicated that Zemfira sought to contest her status. The singer, identified as a foreign agent, filed suit in the Moscow Zamoskvoretsky District Court against the Russian Ministry of Justice. On February 10, 2023, Zemfira was officially designated as a foreign agent. The Ministry of Justice stated that she publicly supported Ukraine and conducted concert activities in countries that oppose a particular military operation, in addition to receiving support from foreign sources.
Following the designation, Zemfira left Russia after the commencement of the operation in Ukraine and has since continued to perform extensively on international stages. The artist has maintained an active touring schedule abroad, highlighting ongoing international engagement and cultural activity outside the home country.
