Yuri Antonov, celebrated as a People’s Artist of Russia, has clarified that his career did not end in Russia, though he prefers not to stage solo tours at the moment. In a recent discussion, the veteran singer explained that his current focus is on studio work rather than touring. He noted that traveling around the country with concerts feels offbeat at this stage of life, and the idea of performing live across many cities seems unnatural now.

On February 19, Antonov marked his 79th birthday. He openly acknowledged feeling his age and admitted that he no longer experiences the same vigor he once had. He also spoke frankly about his health, describing it as not entirely pleasant and something he must live with, even as he continues to create music and pursue projects.

The birthday celebration took place at his home, surrounded by close friends. The atmosphere was warm and intimate, with greetings and gifts exchanged. Antonov chose not to discuss the gifts in detail, suggesting that at his age some topics might feel immodest, yet he appreciated the kindness shown by everyone who attended.

Earlier, at the start of December 2023, Antonov announced that he would not participate in the New Year’s concert in Moscow. He attributed the decision to ongoing issues with his legs, which made the idea of a high-energy performance impractical. He also revealed that he would be involved in a number of television shoots, balancing live performance with screen work.

Meanwhile, reports previously circulated about another well-known performer. It was stated that Petrosyan had been discharged from the hospital following hand surgery, signaling a recovery that allowed him to resume his public appearances and media engagements.
