Alicante

During this weekend visitors can still catch the closing days of a compelling exhibition that traces the history of the Alicante police through photographs and visuals. The display includes unpublished documents, such as the early actions of the Alicante police and the first regulations of the Alicante Municipal Guard. The exhibition remains open until May 15.

Prominent figures in contemporary art, Michael Jenkins and Javier Romero, have selected MACA as the venue to unveil a show featuring over 290 works by artists from a variety of backgrounds. Among the pieces are 40 percent by women, with contributions from artists from multiple continents that present diverse styles and viewpoints. Works by Arturo Herrera, Glenn Ligon, Elena Aguilera, Kara Walker, and Vik Muniz are included. The exhibition runs through May 29.

Alicante Castle

In Castilian hands, Castellón marks International Museum Day with a wide array of events and exhibitions under the banner The Power of Museums. Places of interest include the Castellón Fine Arts Museum, the Castellón Contemporary Art Space, the Molí del Sol museum on the coast, the Cova del Castell museum, Font dels Regatxols, and the Vicente Aguilera Cerni Museum of Contemporary Art in Vilafamés. The program offers a rich schedule to explore. Exhibitions are accessible from May 17 to 22.

Additionally, a collaboration between the ONCE Foundation and the Benicarló Department of Culture presents a June exhibition at the Benicarló Museum (CHALLENGE). This show offers visibility for artists with disabilities, presenting art that offers a new lens on the world and how society is adapting to evolving realities. The exhibition opens June 8.

Valencia

The University of Valencia hosts a historical exhibition that invites visitors to reflect on how society has dealt with mental health across six centuries. The display uses rooms at La Nau to explore these themes. The experience runs through October 23.

Fernando Perez presents a distinct exhibition focused on the aesthetic and technical shifts in world painting. His latest collection compiles thirteen works that illuminate his life, style, and personality.
