Las Cigarreras cultural center in Alicante hosts the second edition of Village Festival on a Saturday full of live performances. From noon, the scene will showcase a mix of rock and roll, punk, and rhythm and blues, inviting the public to participate as part of the experience. The event positions the audience as the main protagonist, with a concept sometimes referred to as the People’s DJ, encouraging attendees to take the stage or simply engage as musicians, artists, or performers. In addition to the local acts, four groups will contribute sets throughout the day: Dani Nel·lo, Llobarros, Ian Kay, and Five Balls.
Public performances are selected through online registration and can take various forms, including music, performance art, dance, or DJ sets. These acts will be interwoven with the four bands as the day unfolds, creating a continuous flow of live music and spontaneous collaborations.
Rafael Quinto Guillen, one of the festival organizers, reflects that a project shines when people participate actively. The festival aims to transform the audience into participants who can DJ, dance, clap, or lift the energy of the room, turning a simple afternoon into a memorable communal moment.
The event is organized with support from the local community and in collaboration with Alhambra Beers, aligning a vibrant cultural initiative with regional sponsorship.
Groups
The lineup blends exotic textures with instrumental rock and roll, fusing the kinetic energy of classic American garage rock with the sensual cadence of Mediterranean musical influences. The goal is to craft a sound with a mysterious, perhaps even demonic edge, that translates into a powerful, unforgettable live performance for the audience.
This Madrid-based act is a well-known voice in the Spanish rock and roll scene of the 1960s, embracing rock and roll, upbeat rhythms, and tarantellas that evoke a retro but timeless vibe.
Ian Kay arrives with a history of European garage punk that has earned a reputation across the continent. Identified as an androgynous French artist of Armenian heritage, Ian Kay recently completed a solo album and has been shaping a narrative through songs about love, heartbreak, and the dawns of difficult times, all recorded in Barcelona and Los Angeles. The project captures a personal journey through provocative themes that resonate with a wide audience.
The Dani Nel·lo project originates from a collaboration with saxophonists known for pushing the boundaries of the instrument within popular music. This partnership highlights how the saxophone can redefine the language of rock and roll and related genres. In the release Wild Saxophonists, Dani Nel·lo pays homage to iconic saxophonists such as Arnett Cobb, Noble Watts, and Red Prysock, underscoring the instrument’s enduring influence on popular music and live performance.
