Pop singer Emaza Gibson has filed a lawsuit alleging sexual harassment by artist Jason Derulo, a claim reported by the New York Post.
According to Gibson’s complaint, in 2021 the musician invited her to join a project managed by his label, Future History, alongside Atlantic Records. The arrangement required her to record a single with Derulo, produce a mixtape every four months, and release an album every six months.
As the collaboration progressed, Derulo reportedly invited Gibson to meetings unrelated to musical work. Gibson states she repeatedly declined invitations to drink, explaining that she did not consume alcohol.
Nevertheless, Gibson contends that she eventually agreed to spend time with Derulo, during which she was provided with alcohol in excess without her awareness. She says Derulo ignored her refusals and continued to pressure her.
Gibson described a difficult emotional period, saying she developed anxiety, experienced trauma at work, and felt she had to start again from scratch with nothing to show for the effort.
According to Gibson’s attorney, the singer allegedly violated the terms of their joint project and also issued threats, in addition to harassing a young woman attempting to break into the music industry.
