The University of Alicante Museum (MUA) marks International Museum Day with a coordinated program built around its global theme The power of museums. The museum invites visitors to explore a week of activities that run from the middle of the week through the following weekend, inviting participation across guided tours, hands on workshops, and a celebratory Great DIM Party set against the backdrop of the exhibitions MUA currently hosts. The program mirrors the museum’s commitment to making culture interactive, educational, and welcoming to people of all ages. This special series of experiences aligns with the broader international celebration and emphasizes the museum as a hub for learning, creativity, and community connection.

On Wednesday at noon, a guided tour will lead visitors through the permanent and temporary displays. Highlights include Exquisite Body, Anonymous Identities, Hug. One gesture exception, Mulier, mulieris, Corpografías, and The trunk in the MUA collection. Other featured components include L’Alcudia 25 years, Espai Arcadi Blasco, and the Daniel Escolano Collection. Catalogs from the museum will be available throughout the day for enthusiasts and researchers who wish to dive deeper into the collections. This opening activity invites audiences to engage with the art and artifacts in a structured, insightful way, fostering dialogue about the stories each piece tells.

The festival continues with the Big Dim Party on Friday from 5 to 8 pm. This family friendly event requires no prior registration and offers a diverse slate of activities designed to spark creativity and collaboration. Attendees can participate in artistic workshops, recycling projects, and collective mural making. Demonstrations of 3D printing will showcase how technology intersects with art, and interactive installations will provide immersive experiences around the educational project Mar sense plastic. Teachers, students from IES Victoria Kent in Elche, and the UA Faculty of Education contribute to the program, bringing together school communities and university resources to celebrate the role of museums in everyday life and environmental awareness.

Saturday morning features another guided tour of the exhibitions, followed by a family oriented workshop visit focused on the corpographs dual programme. The schedule includes two one hour and thirty minute sessions, 12:00 to 13:30 and 17:00 to 18:00, offering a multi sensory creation workshop designed for families. This format encourages participants to explore visual, tactile, and auditory elements while collaborating on a shared artistic project, helping to strengthen family ties and cultural literacy.

The weekend concludes on Sunday with a memeography workshop that invites attendees to create memes inspired by comics. The event runs from 11:00 to 13:00 and is organized in collaboration with the Daguten Neighborhood Graphic School. It is aimed at families with children from eight years old, inviting young visitors to experiment with humor, storytelling, and visual communication while engaging with contemporary methods of media production.
