A new teaser for Disney’s family horror comedy The Haunted Mansion has dropped, and it’s now available on the official YouTube channel operated by Disney’s Canadian division. The short trailer hints at a blend of spooky atmosphere and lighthearted humor designed to appeal to fans of family-friendly fright.
The film centers on Gabby, a single mother who relocates with her nine-year-old son into an aging mansion in New Orleans. The property comes at a suspiciously low price, and almost immediately the house reveals a string of unexplained events that threaten the fledgling household. As the haunting unfolds, a diverse team arrives to help: a priest, a paranormal investigator, a psychic, and a historian all weigh in as potential saviors and guides through the mansion’s eerie history.
The cast features Rosario Dawson, Lakeith Stanfield, Owen Wilson, Tiffany Haddish, Danny DeVito, Jared Leto, Jamie Lee Curtis, Chase Dillon, Winona Ryder, and Dan Levy. The film is directed by Justin Simien, known for his work on Dear White People and its television adaptation. Cathy Dippold wrote the screenplay, bringing experience from projects like Ghostbusters to the Haunted Mansion adaptation.
Disney first announced the project in 2010 with Guillermo del Toro attached as director. Creative differences ultimately led to his departure, and the original script evolved into the version that is now being brought to life for modern audiences. The film’s United States cinema debut is scheduled for July 28, promising a blend of suspense and laughter for fans of the franchise and newcomers alike.
At its core, The Haunted Mansion draws its inspiration from the famous Disneyland attraction that shares its name. The cinematic journey follows a long line of Disney adaptations that began with a 2003 feature film led by Eddie Murphy. Over the past quarter-century, Disney has transformed several popular park experiences into big-screen narratives, including Tower of Terror, Mission to Mars, Village Bears, Pirates of the Caribbean, Tomorrowland, and Jungle Cruise.
Meanwhile, audiences have already had a chance to peek into other streaming comedy highlights as The Amazing Mrs. Maisel returned with a fifth season trailer, signaling another strong year for acclaimed storytelling across platforms.
