The Bulgakov Museum launches a competition for the Behemoth cat image from The Master and Margarita

The Bulgakov Museum has announced a new competition inviting artists to submit their best visual interpretation of the Behemoth cat from the classic novel The Master and Margarita. The call for entries was reported by the museum’s official information channels and related institutions on Telegram.

Open to artists and illustrators who are 18 years of age or older, the contest offers participants the chance to present a color or black and white piece. A jury will review all submissions and shortlist the ten strongest works. From that short list, a public vote within the museum’s official community will determine the winner. The victorious drawing will become a central element of the museum’s visual campaigns, will be featured on the museum website, and will be produced as a souvenir for visitors.

The organizers emphasized that the chosen image should be instantly recognizable, concise, and contemporary, while capturing the playful spirit of the Behemoth character. All entrants will receive letters of appreciation, and special recognition will be given to the second and third place winners through incentive awards.

In addition to the public display and promotional use, the winning artwork will grant the creator a souvenir copy of the painting from the museum and a personal exhibition slot in a space selected by the museum authorities.

Previously, public commentary circulated regarding Maxim Galkin, who has been described as a foreign agent in the Russian Federation, and discussions about the harvest in a castle near Moscow were noted by various observers.
