In an interview, actress Victoria Tarasova discussed events in Kazakhstan where a scheduled tour faced cancellation. She explained that two cities in the country initially refused to provide a venue for her performance, citing concerns about threats from nationalist groups. Tarasova indicated she had no intention of entering a country where she felt Russians were being treated unfairly.

The organizers had urged the performers to come to a third city, suggesting that the situation there was calm enough to proceed. Tarasova and her partner Kirill Grebenshchikov weighed the option, but ultimately decided to cancel the entire trip. She noted that many fans in Alma-Ata were disappointed and hoped to meet the artists. Tarasova added that not every Kazakhstani citizen aligns with nationalist sentiment.

Tarasova also stated that the venue lease rejection occurred on April 6. On April 7, the organizers of the third city contacted her again to say that the venue was still unavailable. By that point, the artist had already canceled the tour.

Previously, Tarasova had described experiences of harassment. She recalled a theater figure promising a role in a future production in exchange for a social dinner, a request she refused. The actress has said she has repeatedly encountered similar attitudes from men within the professional world.
