Summer arrives at Las Cigarreras in Alicante with a specially curated program designed for warmer months. The Cine desde la Trasera series returns this year, though this season it forgoes screenings with live music in favor of concerts featuring Jazz and Blues, along with Pride Week celebrations and a live broadcast from the opera house.
Cinema from behind the screens will offer three sessions in July, with seven screenings planned to begin on Fridays. The lineup opens with Goons (1985), suitable for all audiences, followed by The Secret of the Pyramid (1985) on the 21st and Zathura, a space adventure (2005) on Friday the 28th. All titles will be shown with Spanish subtitles.
Access begins at 20:30. A restaurant area in La Trasera opens for impressions, with free entry up to Pöp Weekend, starting at 21:30.
Pride Week
From July 8 to 15, Las Cigarreras hosts a range of Pride Week events. On Saturday the 8th, a vertical garden will bring family-friendly activities from 12:00 to 21:30. On Tuesday the 11th, a colloquium will take place at 19:00 in the Black Box, discussing gay characters in cinema history, followed by a screening of LGBTQ short films from the Alicante Film Festival.
The event calendar continues with a tribute on Wednesday the 12th at 19:00 in Caja Negra, honoring LGBTQ+ seniors, and on Thursday the 13th, a micro theater event titled LTTGBI will be staged on the same venue at 18:30.
Opera
This summer, Las Cigarreras hosts a live stream from Teatro Real in Madrid featuring Puccini’s Turandot, conducted by Nicola Luisotti with Diego García Rodríguez, joined by the Chorus and Main Orchestra of the venue.
Admission is free until full capacity is reached.
