In Perm, the 20-year-old actor Semyon Osokin-Portnoy from the theater company On the Bridge drowned, according to a local news portal that cited the actor’s father. The report centers on the father’s account of the events surrounding the tragedy.

The father stated that on July 5 Semyon was at a riverside outing with a girl and friends. He described the death as a tragic accident, insisting that Semyon did not have a strong love for swimming. The father recalled that Semyon swam toward an island, perhaps choosing to stay near the shore, and reached a point where a cliff posed a risk. He suggested that Semyon might have wanted to explore the island on foot, but the distance from the main shore proved too great to manage by swimming.

According to the father, there was no one present who could offer rescue. He himself retrieved the body from the water the following day after noting that rescuers and divers had not arrived. He explained that he had to search and recover his son’s body on his own.

Semyon Osokin-Portnoy began his studies in the acting department at the Perm State Institute of Culture, under the guidance of Professor Sergei Fedotov. During his time at the theater On the Bridge, he took on several roles that highlighted his growing talents.

Tatyana Zharkova, one of the teachers and an actress, commented on Semyon’s rise, noting a recent surge in his success. He had recently earned two Grand Prix awards for best male role at festivals dedicated to speech art, including the festival Living Russian Word and the Barnaul theater festival Step.

In related news, the literary world has observed the passing of the French writer Milan Kundera, marking a notable moment in contemporary literature.
