A Moscow lawyer, Natalia Salnikova, commented on a developing legal case tied to Elena Blinovskaya, the blogger known for the Marathon of Desires. The discussions center on whether the Presnensky Court’s decisions to confiscate Blinovskaya’s accounts and property will stand after appeals were filed. The Moscow City Court has yet to set dates for reviewing these complaints, extending the period of uncertainty over the blogger’s assets and public profile.
On August 9, the Presnensky Court ordered the seizure of twelve Blinovskaya bank accounts. In addition, a large number of settlement accounts, including some held by Blinovskaya’s husband, were frozen. The court also moved to seize several vehicles associated with Blinovskaya, including a Bentley Continental, a Lamborghini Urus, a Jeep Wrangler Unlimited, and a Mitsubishi Outlander. A motorboat, seven car trailers, and a jet ski were also blocked from use under the same ruling.
The blogger was detained in April as she attempted to depart Russia with plans to relocate abroad. A criminal case was opened accusing Blinovskaya of very large scale tax evasion and money laundering tied to property movements. The authorities alleged a substantial discrepancy between reported income and actual transactions.
Following the detention, the Presnensky Court placed Blinovskaya under house arrest and prohibited internet use as part of the provisional measures. The measures were designed to curb access to online channels during the investigation and have shaped the public narrative around the case.
By mid August, the Moscow City Court confirmed that Blinovskaya remains under house arrest as a suspect in tax evasion and money laundering charges. The preventive measure has been extended twice, with the current order valid through late October. This extension reflects ongoing judicial review as prosecutors and defense determine the next steps in the case.
There is also a broader discussion about whether Blinovskaya might pursue relocation or residency changes in light of the legal process, a topic that has resurfaced in public commentary.
