A fan fiction platform known as Fikbuk, which translates to Fan Fiction Book, has paused access to certain materials for users located in Russia following new restrictions issued by Roskomnadzor. This update was communicated via the site’s official Telegram channel.

The post stated that changes were implemented to bring Fikbuk into alignment with the laws of the Russian Federation, and that the team is awaiting review of these changes by Russia’s communications regulator. It was noted that the review process could take some time.

For users outside Russia, the platform reports that it will continue to operate without any changes to its service or content policies.

Supporters were thanked for their backing as the authors emphasized ongoing efforts to keep Fikbuk a creative space for its community. The message underscored a commitment to maintaining a vibrant environment for fan writing and related discussions, even amid regulatory challenges.

In mid-July, Roskomnadzor blocked access to what is described as the largest Russian-language fan fiction portal. The regulator had previously requested the platform to remove LGBT content, arguing that the profile of the site included a substantial amount of LGBT-related sections and that a group identifying as an international LGBT movement had been designated as extremist and prohibited within the federation. The ministry contended that the majority of site traffic originated from Russian addresses and that the requested content removals were not fully complied with, with some pages either left intact or simply relocated.

Earlier, the music collective Krovostok indicated it would challenge Roskomnadzor’s blocking decision related to their album release, signaling a broader pushback against the regulatory action.
