Olga Frolova-Kushanashvili, the wife of Otar Kushanashvili, shared a brief update in an interview with Teleprogramma.pro, noting that the TV host had been taken off the ventilator.

In a statement attributed to him, it was said that Kushanashvili had emerged from a medically induced coma following his surgery. Medical teams then lowered his blood pressure and signaled that they would attempt resuscitation if needed in the near future.

The entertainer’s wife described Otar as partially conscious and emphasized that his condition remained stable. She added that there was not much more information available at that moment.

The hospitalization began on June 20 in Krasnogorsk, near Moscow. Family members reported that Kushanashvili had experienced intense chest and abdominal pain in the days leading up to the admission, with doctors subsequently diagnosing liver cirrhosis, which necessitated urgent surgical intervention.

On June 21, Kushanashvili’s sister revealed that surgeons had found a tumor in the abdominal region during the operation. Biopsy results were to be returned within about a week, and early reports suggested the tumor could be malignant.

According to Shot, once Kushanashvili begins to recover, he will need to undergo further examinations to screen for additional health issues, meaning a discharge from the hospital is unlikely in the near term.

Earlier in the story, the public learned that the media figure who became the subject of the popular “borscht with cabbage” meme was being treated in the Moscow region, sparking concern and a wave of well-wishes from fans and colleagues alike.
