International Festival Nostrum Series brings the Chicho Ibáñez Serrador Career Award to actor Manuel Galiana in recognition of his long and influential career in Spain. Galiana has appeared in landmark television series such as stories to sleep anyone and Great Reserves, and he is celebrated as one of the most respected figures in traditional Spanish theater and TVE productions. During the third edition of the Nostrum International Festival, held from April 14 to 23 in Altea, the organizers revealed the remaining laureates: Heritage Award, Awareness Award, and Media Reflection Award Alpha Men. These recognitions underscore the festival’s commitment to celebrating preservation, social themes, and media introspection within the audiovisual landscape.

The Chicho Ibáñez Serrador Career Award will be presented to Galiana at the closing gala, scheduled for Saturday, April 22, with the director’s son Alejandro Ibáñez presenting the honor.

First weekend activities

The program showcased both national and international works, featuring talks, screenings, roundtables, children’s activities, and an extensive schedule exploring the world of television series. The opening events kicked off on Friday, April 14, with Nostrum Series III lighting up Palau Altea at 19:30. After the opening ceremony, AXN contributed to the program with the first part of the series Three Pines, led by Alfred Molina, which will premiere in Spain on April 25.

As a highlight, the third season includes Nostrum Documentary Series, a segment devoted to documentary storytelling. On Saturday, April 15, a presentation on trends in Gloria Saló’s documentary work will be led by GECA’s Director of Production and Content Consulting, offering insights into audiovisual studies and industry practice.

In partnership with Movistar Plus+, an interview will feature Israel del Santo, renowned for documentaries such as Lola, Heart of the Empire, Palmar de Troy, Adventum Pathfinders, and others, including Africa’s Call, Made in Angola, and Lebanon, the Mirror of Aphrodite. This session will explore documentary making across diverse topics and regions.

During the afternoon, two episodes of the fourth season of a featured series aired again in collaboration with Movistar Plus+. The festival continues to highlight documentary work alongside a special focus on cycling through a roundtable and related programming under the banner fewer thought days.

To close the first weekend, Mini Series Nostrum at Plaza del Agua on Sunday, April 16 at 10:00 invites children to discover the world of TV series through games, activities, and workshops designed to spark creativity and curiosity.

Organizational support, in cooperation with UMH, ensures free bus services for journalism and audiovisual communication students who wish to attend parts of the festival on April 14, 21, and 22. Reservations are requested in advance to secure seats on these itineraries.

Series Nostrum collaborates with the Altea City Council’s Departments of Culture and Communications, along with the Altea Film Office, to bring together a vibrant program that blends education, culture, and entertainment for festival attendees and the wider community.
