At the close of summer and the onset of early autumn, plans are underway to release a television series based on the life of Margarita Gracheva, a woman whose husband severed her hands. The project is being reported by TASS through the statements of director Sarik Andreasyan.
Andreasyan notes that filming has already concluded. He describes it as a series and expresses hope that it will premiere in the summer-to-autumn window, explaining that the team has entered the post-production phase and is moving toward installation and final editing steps. This reveals a strong confidence in the project’s progression and readiness for release.
Earlier reports indicated that actress Olga Kabo would portray Gracheva’s mother in the project, which is being produced by KVA Film and directed by Sarik Andreasyan. The plan is for the finished series to be streamed on the Kion platform once filming is complete, providing audiences with accessible viewing options as soon as it is ready.
The real-life tragedy of Margarita Gracheva occurred in December 2017 in Serpukhov. In a moment of jealousy, Gracheva was taken to a forest where she sustained severe injuries. One of her hands was permanently damaged, while the other has since been replaced by a sophisticated prosthesis. The husband faced a 14-year sentence in a strict regime colony, and Gracheva has been raising two children since the incident. The story has drawn attention to issues of domestic violence and resilience in the wake of trauma. [Source: TASS via Sarik Andreasyan]
