The Negrita Music Festival is making its Alicante debut this spring, bringing a star-studded lineup to the Rabasa stage over the weekend. Names like Bad Gyal, Yung Beef, Juan Magán, Maikel Delacalle, RVFV, Kaydy Cain, Delaossa, and Sticky MA headlined the multi-venue showcase, marking a bold start to the city’s spring celebrations. This event was founded with the aim of uniting diverse urban and Latin-sphere sounds in a high-energy festival experience for both local and visiting fans in Canada, the United States, and beyond.
Today and tomorrow, the poster highlights Ambkorm Fabbio, Jabecia, Khaled, Lara West, Mendez, and Samuraï, expanding the weekend with a wide range of styles. Ticketing options include a general pass at 54 euros (32 euros for single-day access) and a VIP pass at 85 euros, offering different levels of concert immersion.
During the two days, more than twenty hours of live performances will showcase the journeys of these artists, with standout acts including Bad Gyal, who has achieved sixteen platinum records to date, and Dela Fuente as a premier national exponent of urban music. The festival also features Yung Beef and Juan Magán, widely regarded as pioneers in Spanish trap and internationally acclaimed artists. Maikel Delacalle brings a dynamic bridge from rhythm and blues to irresistibly danceable reggaeton, making him a key highlight of the lineup.
Negrita Music Festival serves as the culmination of two notable events, Farándula Festival and Costa Sonora, combining the best elements of trap, rap, reggaeton, and Latin fusion across two vibrant days. To ensure a safe and welcoming environment, the Alicante Equality Department will distribute 400 cup sleeves and 300 backpacks at the Negrita festival to help prevent sexual harassment and assault.
Vargas Blues Band will close the weekend with a release tour for their twenty-seventh album, Stoner Night, a double album that blends updated hard blues and rock. The project features a split format, with vocal and instrumental tracks, recorded in the summer of 2022 and now performed live with the band. Jon Byron Jagger serves as the voice, with Luis Mayo on bass and Jota Marsan on drums.
Formed in 1991, the Vargas Blues Band has collaborated with blues greats and celebrated artists over the years, including Carey Bell, Louisiana Red, Junior Wells, and the backing of Double Trouble, along with connections to artists connected with the Rolling Stones. On June 1, 2022, they were invited to perform at a major Madrid venue, sharing the stage with Jon Byron Jagger and Chris Jagger. The band’s performances today include the Gramola room in Orihuela at 22:00 and the Alicante Cigarettes venue on Saturday at 21:00, presented in conjunction with the Alicante Blues Society.
On the roster, Vargas Blues Band is slated to perform again in Orihuela first, followed by a Saturday show in Alicante, cementing a weekend rich in blues-infused rock and live artistry.
Los Ruina and Pistol Packin’ Mama bring a European room-filled double bill to Sant Joan. Tonight at 22:00, Andalusian pop with Los Ruina, fronted by Fini Torres on vocals and Antonio García El Caracoles on guitar, delivers catchy songs that blend miscegenation and fusion with pop sensibilities. Their latest album, Savia Nueva, presents a contemporary blend of styles that resonates with a broad audience.
Doors open at 22:00 on Saturday for Pistol Packin’ Mama, a classic rock act with no pretensions to retro nostalgia, delivering a modern, dance-friendly performance. Tickets at 8 euros for access, 10 euros for a premium experience, promise an engaging night that fuses vintage flair with current energy.
International Werewolf, a trash and psychobilly act, brings a primal, wild edge to the lineup. The Mallorcan performer uses drums, electric guitar, and feral vocals to deliver an unmistakable stage presence. The group’s set begins at 10:30 p.m. with Cox’s TNT Blues providing an opening, and tickets are priced at 5 euros.
