The Moscow City Court is set to review the appeal challenging the tightened preventive measure for blogger Elena Blinovskaya on February 13. This update comes from TASS, as cited by Blinovskaya’s lawyer, Natalia Salnikova.

According to the blogger’s defender, the Moscow City Court will hear the appeal on February 13 at 15:00 Moscow time. Salnikova conveyed this information to reporters and emphasized the importance of reassessing the current precautionary approach.

In the appeal, Blinovskaya’s attorney asks the court to overturn the ruling by the Zamoskvoretsky District Court that detained her rather than extending the house arrest. The lawyer argues that the initial decision did not adequately reflect the circumstances of the case and should be reconsidered in light of new facts or conditions.

On January 22, Blinovskaya was transferred to pre-trial detention center No. 6, Pechatniki. The blogger had previously been placed under house arrest in connection with a tax evasion case involving a sum of 918 million rubles. The shift to detention marks a significant change in the handling of the case and carries substantial legal implications.

During the investigation, a request was made to modify the terms of the pre-trial detention center. The defense asserts there was a movement within the detention facility and notes that a group of about 15 individuals, including a case witness, was present. It is alleged that Blinovskaya contacted this person despite the court ban. If found guilty, the blogger faces a potential prison sentence of up to 16 years.

Earlier, Blinovskaya sought permission to make calls and receive visits from loved ones while in pre-trial detention. The request was part of ongoing efforts to maintain contact with close associates during the period of investigations and legal proceedings.
