Brooklyn Prince, a 12-year-old performer known for her roles in Cocaine Bear and The Florida Project, has unveiled her own comic. Hollywood Reporter notes this milestone in her early career as a writer and creator.
Prince, an avid comic book enthusiast, reveals that the concept for Misfortune’s Eye was acquired by the major publisher Sumerian Comics. The project has reached a completion stage and is set to be showcased at the MegaCon pop culture convention in Orlando, drawing fans of graphic storytelling from across North America.
The central figure in the comic is Vivian Nightingale, a teenager who awakens on the morning of her fifteenth birthday with a striking new gift: the ability to see people’s auras. This skill transports Vivian to a strange, enigmatic city where she uncovers her mother’s challenging past and confronts a daunting power that seems to foretell death. As the city looms toward a looming cataclysm, Vivian must navigate danger and mystery to protect herself, her new allies, and the place she has grown to call home.
The film adaptation bears a provocative title inspired by a real incident; Cocaine Bear tells the story of a 175-pound black bear that ingested a discarded bag of cocaine in northern Georgia back in 1985. Though the tale is grounded in true events, the motion picture uses dramatic license to explore the consequences of human actions on the wild landscape and the unexpected consequences that follow when nature collides with illegal drugs.
