The prominent figure Sergei Shnurov, known as the frontman of the Leningrad group, has taken on a mentoring role for the show New Star Factory. This development was reported by RIA News, referencing TNT.
Shnurov, together with the lead vocalist from his band, Sergey Zhukov, will guide aspiring singers as they showcase their talents. Zhukov already brings experience mentoring on television projects, including the program The Voice.
In February, Zhukov revealed that he had become a mentor on the program called New Star Factory. He admitted that at first he did not want to participate, confessing a dislike for Star Factory.
After the show began, Zhukov described a shift in his perspective as the number of live concerts for his group decreased. He noted that Leningrad was less visible on radio and at corporate events, which weighed on him and led to thoughts about stepping away from the music scene.
These concerns contributed to Zhukov’s initial reluctance to engage with the Star Factory. However, the TNT channel director, Tina Kandelaki, persuaded him to join. Zhukov explained that his role could be about teaching, offering guidance, and inspiring the next generation of Russian stars.
Earlier, Sergei Shnurov had returned to the program The Voice, continuing his involvement in major music mentorship formats.
