The Diputacion de Alicante Archaeological Museum Library has unveiled a new digital section on its website to make the institution’s vast 41,426-volume collection more visible and accessible to the public.
Record MARQ: Immense online visibility and early summer traction
Within this digital expansion, bibliographic references can be explored electronically, including monographs, series, audiovisual materials, and digital resources, many of which offer downloadable content.
This new digital space for the bibliographic collection, launched in conjunction with World Libraries Day, led by the General Directorate of Books and Reading Promotion, will be celebrated globally on Monday, October 24, with the slogan BiblioTEcuida.
Aim is to emphasize the role of cultural centers as open spaces where people can meet and engage with knowledge and learning needs.
“A step towards internationalization”
Vice President for Culture, Julia Parra, stated that the digitization progress marks a new milestone. What is undertaken at MARQ will project the library’s funds to a wider audience and make access easy, free, and global.
Gladiators will continue for another month at MARQ
Parra also noted that this advance is a key step in the museum’s ongoing internationalization, a goal begun several years ago and now solidly in place. The MARQ Library houses 14 reading streams and provides access to the wireless network. It serves teachers, students, researchers, and anyone interested in expanding their knowledge, offering strong support for education and lifelong learning.
More than 8,000 people visit MARQ during the new night hours
Since December 2021, this area has been recognized on a global map of specialized libraries. It is listed in the Library Cooperation Council directory and appears in the Spanish Libraries Directory provided by the Ministry of Culture and Sports. The museum’s digital consultation catalogue now complements the physical collection and is accessible through the MARQ website.
