At the Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theater named after Dmitry Hvorostovsky, the position of chief director has been filled for the first time. This development was reported by TASS through the theater’s press secretary, Maria Ustyugova.

Irina Lychagina, formerly the opera director at the Moscow Art Theatre named after KS Stanislavsky and Vl. I. Nemirovich-Danchenko, will assume the newly created post. Ustyugova explained that the chief director in the theater plays a central role in shaping the existing repertoire, guiding creative processes to produce both new and existing performances, overseeing the development of new productions, and supervising the work of stage directors and the progress of their projects.

Lychagina has a long track record at the Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko Musical Theatre, where she spent more than two decades. Among her notable productions is Dmitri Shostakovich’s Moscow operetta Moscow, Cheryomushki, staged in 2006 and recognized with a nomination for a prestigious prize. She also directed Christoph Willibald Gluck’s opera Orfeo ed Euridice, as well as numerous performances prepared with the orchestra.

Earlier, at the Ministry of Culture, announcements indicated that Andrey Moguchiy, artistic director of the Bolshoi Drama Theater, concluded his tenure on April 9. Following Moguchiy’s departure from the Commonwealth of Independent States, the theater’s leadership will be assumed by Tatyana Arkhipova, who will guide the institution as its director.
