The Alicante Photographic Club marks fifty years of dedication to photography with an extensive program of activities for enthusiasts of this art. The schedule includes talks, practical workshops, curated exhibitions, and training sessions open to both members and the public. As part of the anniversary celebration, on Friday, November 29, a renowned photographer Estela de Castro will present an exclusive masterclass at Palacio El Portalet, located at 15 Labradores Street in Alicante, from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM. The event is designed to inspire beginners and seasoned shooters alike, offering a rare opportunity to witness a master of contemporary portraiture share her approach to lighting, composition, and storytelling.
Esta event is free, with admission open until capacity is reached, and it is shaping up to be a unique opportunity for photographers and enthusiasts to draw inspiration from one of the most influential figures in contemporary portraiture. The masterclass will focus on sharing practical knowledge and Estela de Castro’s personal experiences behind the lens. She is widely recognized for portraits that carry emotional depth and social commitment, and she will reveal her key approaches to creating images that impress technically and also tell human stories that connect with audiences.
Estela de Castro, beyond her teaching work and her focus on topics such as human rights and animal welfare, has photographed members of the Spanish royal family, including the official portraits of Their Majesties the King and Queen, the Princess of Asturias, and Infanta Sofia in 2019. Her body of work includes projects like Fotógrafos from 2011, which earned her a scholarship at the Albarracín Photography Seminar; Zoocosis from 2017 to 2019, which exposes animal captivity; and The Animals from 2020, a project that highlights animal mistreatment and calls for greater empathy.
