Greta Gerwig, the director behind Barbie, revealed that she began experiencing frequent nightmares during the production of the new film. Her remarks were reported by the Los Angeles Times. “I’m writing a script right now. And it’s very difficult because I have nightmares all the time,” the filmmaker explained.

Gerwig did not specify which project she was referencing. The Los Angeles Times noted that the director might be working on a Netflix adaptation of The Chronicles of Narnia, a project tied to Netflix after the service secured rights to all seven of C. S. Lewis’s books in 2018.

In September, reports emerged that the pirated version of Barbie earned approximately 120 million rubles in Russia.

Gerwig, alongside Noah Baumbach, co-wrote the screenplay for Barbie, which centers on the famous doll Margot Robbie as she leaves the doll world and grapples with an internal crisis.

On August 31, the Russian Ministry of Culture declined to issue distribution certificates for both Barbie and Oppenheimer, stating that the films did not align with what officials described as Russian spiritual values.

On September 12, Barbie, directed by Greta Gerwig, became available for online viewing. The film circulated on major Western streaming platforms, including Netflix, HBO Max, Disney Plus, Peacock, and Amazon Prime.

Earlier developments indicated that a well-known 1990s star would participate in a television program to continue their career in Russia. (Source attribution: Los Angeles Times)
