Filming Enemigos in Colonia Requena and Beyond
The neighborhood near Valero was chosen as a backdrop for one of the two central figures in the film led by Chimo, with Christian Czech and El Rubio among the key characters. The production unit headed to La Florida, the second location in the reel, where the story of revenge unfolds and the filmmaker’s intention to capture the consequences of retaliation is meant to be felt quickly by the audience.
Principal photography in Enemigos began last Monday in Colonia Requena, and by midweek the crew was filming a sequence that follows one of the heroes as he enters the neighborhood for the first time in the story.
“It’s wonderful that they chose this area for a movie”, said Antonio Colomina, president of the neighborhood association. He expressed satisfaction that a fictional world would be brought to life on the big screen in a setting that has previously inspired local stories tied to the area. Colomina notes the film’s connection to prior works linked to the region and its residents.
“The neighborhood feels transformed for the duration of the shoot. Extra actors surface in scenes, and the overall mood among the crew is positive. People even swing by bars in the area to grab lunch or a quick sandwich, creating a lively atmosphere that helps the production blend with daily life”, Colomina adds. “As long as the project lasts, the neighborhood feels alive and happy to be part of this film.”
The project marks the directorifth feature film and is produced by A-Típica Films, a Madrid-based company that has previously collaborated with the filmmaker. The technical team comprises roughly sixty crew members with an additional fifty extras participating on various days. During a recent evening, ninety-six crew members shared a meal together, underscoring the collaborative nature of the production. Filming is slated to continue for about three weeks in Alicante, with plans to wrap around the end of September. The schedule includes additional days in the La Florida district and two days in the Red Bridge and Ciudad de Asís neighborhoods.
San Vicente to Crevillent
Beyond the heart of Alicante, the production will roam to other nearby sites, including Crevillent and the Valero family backdrop. Locations on the list feature hospitals, cemeteries, and a boxing club. The director himself plans to incorporate sports scenes at these venues in upcoming shoots.
After completing outdoor sequences in the Alicante area, the crew will relocate to Madrid for interior shoots. The narrative will unfold in interior sets there, with the broader production running until October 30. It appears the film will lean heavily on Alicante province for its outdoor spaces while also using interior environments in the capital for pivotal scenes.
Distribution
The film centers on a provocative question: what would one do for an enemy? It follows two teenage rivals from a neighborhood who have spent years tormenting each other. When Chimo spots an opportunity for revenge, he proceeds with a plan that will inevitably ripple through both of their lives. The ensemble cast includes Estefania de los Santos, Luna Pamies, Sara Vidorreta, Jose Maria Peinado, and Jose Manuel Poga as part of the story’s movement toward consequence and resolution.
The project is expected to reach audiences across more than two hundred countries. In addition to A-Típica Films, producers include Jose Antonio Félez, Christina Sutherland, and Alberto Felez, who serve as executive producers. The film is positioned to become a notable entry in contemporary Spanish cinema, with a distribution footprint that aims to engage a global viewership.
