The Ministry of Internal Affairs has opened a probe into People’s Artist of Russia Liya Akhedzhakova for publishing material that allegedly discredited the Russian Armed Forces. This information comes from TASS, citing law enforcement sources.

Officials said that in Akhedzhakova’s case, an investigation is proceeding under the article alleging discrediting of the Russian Armed Forces, and a procedural decision will be issued as a result of the review, according to an agency representative.

Sources indicate that the artist could face a fine or administrative arrest. Investigators from the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Moscow are examining the incident and gathering evidence as part of the case.

Earlier this month, Vitaly Borodin, who leads the Federal Security and Anti-Corruption Project, reiterated calls for the Prosecutor General’s Office to examine Akhedzhakova’s actions to determine whether they amount to discrediting the RF Armed Forces.

In her appeal, Borodin urged recognizing the artist as a foreign agent and stripping her of awards and honorary titles, arguing that such steps would reflect the seriousness of the alleged offense.

The trigger for the investigation was Akhedzhakova’s performance in Germany, where she took the stage with a Ukrainian flag. Her past public remarks criticizing the special military operation in Ukraine are part of the broader context surrounding the case.

A former manager associated with the Moscow Search channel has also acknowledged accountability related to allegations of discrediting the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.
