The President of the Generalitat, Ximo Puig, met with James Costos, President of Sequoia Studios Inform, and other executives from this production company to explore what Ciudad de la Luz offers to the audiovisual sector.
Costos, who serves as an honorary ambassador for the Spanish Film Commission, expressed interest in Alicante’s research ecosystem, which is regarded as among Europe’s finest and one of the world’s best for its facilities, strategic location, and connectivity.
The President outlined the Generalitat’s ongoing efforts to showcase Ciudad de la Luz’s potential across Europe and the United States, aiming to attract new productions to this comprehensive complex that provides advanced audiovisual production services essential for every stage of filmmaking and broadcasting.

It is one of Spain’s top firms in creating, producing, and distributing audiovisual and digital content, with a robust outsourcing footprint for television operations.
Within the Sequoia Group, Sequoia Studios focuses on Spanish-language audiovisual production. The studio maintains a global footprint with offices in Madrid and Granada, Chile’s Santiago, Colombia’s Bogota, and the United States in Los Angeles and Miami.
The operation is steered by the Sequoia Studios team from the Los Angeles office, with the General Directorate based in Spain under Jose Manuel Gonzalez Pacheco. Madrid houses the City of Content complex, which has been active since 2018 and continues to expand its capabilities.
The Madrid City of Content audiovisual park covers up to 140,000 square meters, solidifying its status as one of Europe’s largest production hubs. The complex is complemented by the Planetary Group’s presence, which supports the development of a university campus nearby.
In 2018, Sequoia reached an agreement with Netflix regarding the use of select facilities managed by Secuoya Studios within the complex.

Also present were Raul Berdones, President of Grupo Secuoya, who founded the group in 2008, and Javier Valero. Antonio Rodes, the managing director of the Valenciana Community Digital Transformation Projects Community (formerly Thematic Projects), was in attendance, along with Pilar Pérez Solano, a film director and member of the organization. The group’s marketing director, responsible for business development, brand project design, and execution, also joined the discussion.
