Actor Dolph Lundgren, who appeared in every installment of The Expendables, revealed that Sylvester Stallone was working on the script for the fifth entry. This information came from Screen Rant.

Still, there was no official confirmation about a sequel in development.

Lundgren also spoke about the reasons behind the fourth film’s reception. He noted that Stallone did not participate in the creative process in the same way as before, and the director changed just a month before filming began.

Lundgren stated, the project ran into trouble from the start, with the script being a primary issue.

The movie The Expendables 4 hit Russian theaters on September 21, 2023, and was directed by Scott Waugh. The cast featured Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Dolph Lundgren, and Randy Couture, along with 50 Cent, Megan Fox, Tony Jaa, Iko Uwais, and Andy Garcia.

The film follows the Expendables as their newest mission falls apart and leads to losses. Barney Ross, played by Stallone, exits the field while Lee Christmas, portrayed by Statham, is temporarily sidelined. The team tries to bring in fresh fighters to recover from the failure, but the mission ends in capture and adversity.

Earlier reports also mentioned Woody Allen’s The Great Irony planning a January online release.
