opening Friday (12:30) until June 23

Diego del Pozo presents a meditation on emotional bonds and power dynamics through visuals and video. The works in the exhibition Blind Blind blend vivid gestures with a narrative that threads together viral video motifs, archival material, interviews, and speculative fiction. The artist pushes against the idea that vision alone should define reality, challenging a gendered order and the violence sometimes attached to the strange. By tracing how gestures are formed, how language is spoken and hidden, the show becomes a treasure trove of expressive moves that reveal character and intention. The curatorial frame for the show is provided by Alexander Simon. Both artists hold professorships at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Salamanca. [Citation: Local Arts Archive]

Enkar Neil, Soap is making astronomers cry.

El Campello Cultural HouseConstitution Square 4, El Campello

opening This Saturday until 14 May

PhotoAlicante photography festival opens several exhibitions this weekend. Enkar Neil, born in Alicante in 1992, presents in El Campello a project titled Soap, named after a Benjamin Péret poem. The work acts as a surreal investigation into photographic appropriation and the construction of reality and identity through intervention. Each image is displaced from its familiar context by introducing unrelated elements, opening new visual spaces that invite readings that live at the edge between what is real and what is imagined. The series prompts viewers to rethink how photographs are framed and understood. Neil’s practice has been recognized with a prize in the #PHEdesdemibalcón contest for PhotoEspaña 2020 during the quarantine period. [Citation: Local Arts Archive]
