Manuel Álvarez Diestro Exhibition in Benidorm Manuel Alvarez Diestro
Manuel Álvarez Diestro, Caves of Steel
Benidorm Cultural Centre, Calle Jaén 2, Benidorm. until October 3
In Benidorm, the College of Architecture presents a photographer’s show titled Steel Caves. The exhibition follows an earlier display at Pozos de Garrigós in Alicante and surveys three decades across five continents, tracing a visual narrative of how urban design and planning shape landscapes and human settlements. The collection spans images from Alicante, Torrevieja, and Benidorm, inviting viewers to reflect on the relationship between infrastructure and place.
The Alicante College of Architects seeks to spread an appreciation for high-quality architecture and thoughtful urban planning among residents. The display highlights Benidorm’s skyline as a case study in contemporary urban form, underscoring concepts such as the 15-minute city, which envisions cities where most daily needs are reachable on foot or by bike in about a quarter of an hour. This approach aims to reduce car dependence and enhance living standards for city dwellers.
