The Digital Intelligence Center of Alicante Province (Cenid) is a collaborative hub supported by Diputación de Alicante, the University of Alicante, and Miguel Hernández University in Elche. Cenid’s culture portal acts as a bridge that brings the province’s rich cultural life to the wider world through online access. The project was inaugurated by Carles Cortés and is designed to engage both the municipalities that participate and anyone who wants to explore the province’s cultural portal. Within Cenid Cultura, leadership roles include the head of the project, joined by Pilar Tebar, the director of the Juan Gil-Albert Cultural Institute; Gonzalo Cao, who oversees the development of the Culture Portal; and Pep Rubio, responsible for disseminating the platform to a broad audience.

An important milestone occurred when the conference drew attendance from cultural council members and stakeholders. Over the course of two years, the portal and its growing catalog of content became widely known, drawing participation from multiple municipalities and the custodians of cultural assets. Since its inception, the initiative has steadily expanded to include several municipal councils and collaborating organizations, with new towns joining over time. The list of participating localities has grown to include Calp, El Campello, Busot, Ibi, and San Vicente del Raspeig, among others, while cultural institutions contribute fresh digital content to enrich the platform. Cortés notes that the Cenid Culture Portal helps bring Alicante’s cultural heritage closer to audiences anywhere in the world via the internet, highlighting the global reach of this regional project.

Gonzalo Cao, who guides the Culture Portal’s development, emphasizes another core aim: to contribute to the widespread dissemination of each entity’s or municipality’s corporate image, while streamlining the most time-consuming processes for municipal technicians. This approach supports consistent branding and efficient workflows across participating bodies, ensuring that cultural assets are presented clearly and accessibly to users.

Cenid’s cultural portal is open to any citizen, as well as to institutions and organizations from within the province and beyond. It fosters a digital cultural ecosystem by enabling the exchange of content through digitization and the use of new technologies. The portal not only promotes local culture but also helps to showcase it to a global audience, extending the reach of Alicante’s cultural scene well beyond its traditional borders.
