The Berlanga Awards, slated to take place in Valencia, celebrate the excellence of cinema, television series, video games, and other audiovisual works produced across Alicante, Castellón, and Valencia. The awards recognize quality and artistic achievement in works broadcast within the period from 12 November 2022 to 10 November 2023, highlighting the creative, artistic, and technical contributions of the professionals behind them.
Nomination applications for various categories may be submitted by individuals or organizations through the online form available on the Academy of AVAV official site. This streamlined entry process is designed to simplify participation and clarify eligibility. Citations from academics and voting members will determine the best works produced in the Valencian Community during the specified window, honoring outstanding professionals in every specialty and recognizing those who contributed to these productions.
New in this edition
For this edition, the ceremony will be held at Palau de les Arts in Valencia. The event runs from 11 November and follows iterations in Alicante and Castellón. It introduces two new recognitions: the Youth Award for Best Feature Film and an award for Best Original Song. Together with the existing categories, a total of 26 awards will be presented across feature films, serials, short films, and video games, while the traditional Honor Award remains part of the lineup.
Additionally, the Academy has simplified the submission process by creating a single online form hosted on the AVAV site and reducing the number of attachments required. A new viewing platform has also been introduced so participants can upload and review works entering the competition, making the process more transparent and accessible.
The Berlanga Awards this year introduce fresh criteria for Valencianidad in the works, with certain standards expected from the teams of professionals who create these productions to ensure alignment with regional values and storytelling quality.
