Abril en Danza marks a pivotal moment in the festival, spotlighting three standout performances this weekend in Alicante and Elche. The program features Lali Ayguadé’s company, whose work earned multiple Max Awards for performing arts, including best female dance artist and best choreography, announced at the Max Awards ceremony in Cádiz on the prior Tuesday.

Audiences will experience journeys “Inside rune tales from another world, from another age,” arriving in Arniches on Saturday the 22nd. The production paints a chaotic landscape where two individuals question and reconstruct what existed in the past, inviting viewers to reconsider memory and place amid rubble-like textures.

On Friday, April 21st, choreographer Iván Pérez Avilés from Alicante brings his Heidelberg-based dance company to L’Escorxador in Elche. Inside tiring area, Pérez Avilés probes the edges of the body and the spaces between people, weaving vulnerability with resilience as performers navigate physical limits and intimate dynamics.

Sunday, the 23rd, in Elche, presents a gala featuring Danseu-Vos Danza, Edu Migro and Sebastián Rowinsky, Red Fox Danza, Wako, Carla Sisteré, Maximiliano Sandford, Yeinner Chicas, Colectivo Blanquet, and Proyecto GoOD, celebrating contemporary movement and collaborative artistry.

“The Teacher” is staged at the Teatro Principal in Alicante
