The lead singer of the Vintage group, Anna Pletneva, spoke openly in a conversation with New Radio about restrictions on performing her song Eva in concerts.
“Imagine this — they’ve started banning the song Eva from being performed. They claim it is prohibited by law. It feels ridiculous,” the artist noted with frustration.
Pletneva clarified that the line “Eva, I loved you” in the track is a homage to singer Eva Polna. She described herself as a longtime admirer of Polna and a devoted fan.
“Perhaps, from this moment, perhaps this nonsense will stop. The song is a tribute to Eva Polna, a mark of respect for her. He understood this and gave us permission to proceed. Every time I step on stage, I openly express my admiration for her as a formidable artist,” the vocalist explained.
In October 2022, the lead singer of Vintage revealed that Eva Polna initially hesitated to participate in the recording of the song Eva, which was dedicated to Polna. Polna was uncomfortable with the use of the past tense in the tribute — “Eva, I loved you” — but she was eventually persuaded to join.
On November 30, the Supreme Court ruled that the International LGBT Movement, which had been banned in Russia, is extremist and banned its activities within the country. The decision took immediate effect. The session was held behind closed doors on that date, and reports indicate the claim was considered without a representative for the defendant, as noted by RIA Novosti.
Earlier reports indicated that TNT Music had been fined for LGBT propaganda, with the International LGBT Movement deemed extremist and prohibited in the Russian Federation. [citation attribution]
