In total, 27 concerts will fill the schedule, turning Alicante Arena into a vibrant music hub from May through September. The cycle, titled Alicante Gold, is organized by Ibolele Producciones and presented by its director, Carlos Peñalver, together with the mayor of Alicante, Luis Barcala, and local businessman Nacho Lloret. The program features a blend of legendary names and contemporary acts, from Bob Dylan, Tom Jones, and Joaquin Sabina to Wilco, Morat, Alejandro Sanz, Lola Indigo, and Manuel Carrasco, among others.
With an average crowd of about 5,000 spectators per show, and the possibility of reaching 30 performances, the organizers anticipate more than 150,000 attendees passing through the Plaza de Toros over the four months. The expected economic impact for the city ranges between 15 and 20 million euros, according to Barcala. He also outlined six additional music initiatives that will run in Alicante during this period — Spring Festival, Field 12, Rocanrola, Live the Roof, Bombastic, and Negrita Music Festival. These events plan to bring artists such as Bizarrap, Mala Rodríguez, Juan Magán, Pablo López, and Hombres G to Alicante, potentially drawing a combined audience of around 440,000 and generating up to 40 million euros in economic impact. The aim is to reinforce concert and festival tourism and strengthen Alicante’s appeal as a music-centered destination. Barcala suggested the event could become the first taste of Alicante for many visitors, building lasting loyalty for future editions.
Mari Carmen, a councilor for the Plaza de Toros, stressed the commitment of the arena’s management to revive the space’s use beyond the Bullfighting Fair, expanding to a broader range of music-focused events. Last year featured eight concerts despite the pandemic; this year, the program plans to triple that number with national and international artists.
Scheduled performances at the Plaza de Toros include NATO and Waor on May 5, Joaquin Sabina on May 10 and 12, Lola Indigo on May 19, Bob Dylan on June 15, the Gypsy Kings on July 7, Marco Antonio Solis on July 11, LP on July 16, Morat on July 18, Alejandro Sanz on July 20, a Dire Straits tribute on August 22, Carlos Rivera on July 25, Kraftwerk on July 26, Tom Jones on August 1, Scissors on August 4, Pablo Alborán on August 5, Zaz on August 9, God Save the Queen on August 10, Vanessa Martin on August 12, Wilco on August 17, Priestess on August 19, Miguel Ríos on August 25, District on August 26, Anthony Orozco on September 2, Manuel Carrasco on September 23, and I Went to EGB on September 30. Nacho Lloret noted that the enduring excitement around these concerts reflects the broader benefits the venue brings to the city’s commercial life; the arena’s ongoing investment and the international lineup help attract visitors and stimulate local commerce. The ambition is clear: the Ibolele Producciones events will showcase a mix of American, British, Mexican, French, Italian, Colombian, and German artists, underscoring the diverse appeal of the season. The roster includes prominent names such as Bob Dylan, Wilco, LP, Tom Jones, Carlos Rivera, Marco Antonio Solís, the Gypsy Kings, ZAZ, Morat, Kraftwerk, and other celebrated acts.
Regarding ticket sales, Sabina’s dates sold strongly, and Manuel Carrasco and Alejandro Sanz were nearing full capacity, while Tom Jones and Bob Dylan were around half sold. Pre-sales of tickets were set to be available on the festival site for Alicante Gold’s concerts, inviting fans to secure seats early and plan visits around the schedule.
