According to the assessment, twelve of the twenty four subsidized festivals in the relief plan are from the province. The total appropriation approaches 140,000 euros. In total twenty seven grants are noted; one festival resigned, two were expelled, none from the province. rising trend
The IVC aid to festivals in the province has shown a steady rise over the years. In 2017, eleven competitions took place and only three Alicante festivals were included in the donation. By 2019 the number was 7 out of 22. In 2020 the ratio was 9 out of 20 and 10 out of 25 in 2021. The trajectory continues into the current year.
Vincent Seva, director of the Alicante Film Festival, commented that it is excellent to see the outcome. He noted that the effort is rewarded with a strong rating and that remaining in second place for another year provides motivation to sustain the festival and to strengthen its position at the national level amid peer competitions.
Miguel Herrero, director of the Sax Film Festival, expressed that the aid process often follows a pyramidal structure and typically benefits those with the greatest need, rather than simply rewarding seniority.
movie clubs
In addition to festival subsidies, the IVC distributed a total of 43,000 euros to support film clubs in operation. About 19,000 of these funds are allocated to entities within the Valencian Community, including several Alicante province organizations. Cineclub Villena received 9,944 euros, Cineclub Luis Buñuel from Elche 6,781 euros, and Cineclub Mediterráneo Cinefórum from the Imajove association in Alicante 3,898 euros. These grants sustain community screenings, discussions, and local film culture across the region.
