Fura dels Baus returns with its new production, a show crafted for the planet that graces the Alicante State Assembly Auditorium at the end of December. The program also features a festive program for Christmas with big names in attendance, including Miguel Poveda, Victor Manuel, the Morente siblings, and Juan Perro’s Group, marking a warm farewell to 2022.

The Catalan company led by Carlus Padrissa will bring a major production to ADDA again on December 20 and 21. The auditorium’s artistic director explains that this piece was chosen with care and a deep respect for nature, highlighting its timely theme and regional relevance. The work is relatively new, having premiered in France in 2020, and it is an interactive experience where audiences can influence the outcome via mobile devices and on-screen prompts. The key factor is the people’s decision, shaping the final vision of the show as imagined by the performers.

La Fura dels Baus presents its own interpretation of a classic work, reimagining Beethoven’s Symphony No. 6, commonly known as the Pastoral Symphony, completed in 1808. The piece carries memories of village life and nature, and the production blends it with additional music by composers such as Reicha, Weber, Rietz, and Mendelssohn. Padrissa’s reinvention pairs the familiar with new textures, creating a fresh listening experience that connects past and present.

This marks La Fura’s third visit to Alicante. Earlier productions have included a collaboration in 2016 and another in 2019, each bringing a distinct artistic approach. The new show uses a 360-degree virtual projection to create an immersive environment, with performers including Sophie Karthauser and a team of dancers. The production explores how performance can be expanded beyond traditional stages, inviting the audience into a broader, interactive experience.

ADDA Simfònica continues its season with a late-week concert featuring the Valencia–New York pianist Josu de Solaun. The program includes Bartók’s Piano Concerto No. 3 and a theatrical treatment of Bernstein’s West Side Story, presented with audiovisual elements to enhance the storytelling. The orchestra has expanded its activity since a pause caused by the pandemic and made a notable international debut in Berlin this year, with further performances planned for January 2023.

The week before Christmas, the ADDA calendar unveils a star-studded Christmas program led by Miguel Poveda, presenting a recent album that blends cultures through music accumulated over more than three decades. Flamenco serves as a core thread, celebrating the beauty and diversity of the world through a journey of sound and emotion.

The festive concert series continues with Victor Manuel as part of his long-running tour commemorating a 75-year life in music. The program gathers a lifetime of songs and milestones to illuminate a career marked by influence and enduring resonance.

On December 29, Estrella, Soleá, and Kiki Morente, the children of renowned singer Enrique Morente, join voices in a concert that captures the warmth of a traditional Christmas gathering while venturing into diverse musical styles. The evening promises a shared sense of home, gently threaded with new explorations and familiar tunes.
