Director Eldar Ryazanov wrote it himself when he couldn’t find a suitable verse for the movie Office Romance. The director spoke of this in his memoirs “Unsummarized Results”.

“I was so ugly when I was working on this painting. I decided to do an experiment. He brought the poems to the studio and said he had found it in the late 18th and early 19th century English poet William Blake, a poem that, it seems to me, could well fit our “snow period.” I realized that if I told the real author, I could put my comrades in an awkward position,” the cinematographer said.

Actress Alisa Freindlich sang the song of Ryazanov’s lyrics “Nature has no bad weather”.

Soviet and Russian director Eldar Ryazanov died on November 30, 2015 at the age of 89. Many of his works, such as Office Romance, The Irony of Fate or Enjoy Your Bath, The Girl Without an Address, and others, have become classics of Soviet cinema.
