Peter Jackson tried to forget the “Lord of the Rings” with the help of hypnosis

New Zealand director Peter Jackson tried to forget about filming his main masterpiece, the Lord of the Rings trilogy, with the help of hypnosis. He talked about it on a podcast. Hollywood Reporter.

The director stated that he was “seriously considering” using hypnosis to forget all his work in Oscar-winning films. According to him, he wanted to watch them not as a writer, but as a regular fan.

“When we made Lord of the Rings movies, I always felt like I was the unfortunate person who never saw them as surprise films. When it was shown, I was immersed in it for five or six years. <...> I actually seriously considered going to some kind of hypnotherapist to have him hypnotized me and forgot about the movies and work I’ve done in the last six or seven years so I can sit back and enjoy it,” Jackson said.

The director added that he even spoke about it with British hypnotist Derren Brown, who assured Jackson that he could do it.
