Actress Noemi Merlant said in an interview with socialbites.ca that she is not afraid of the film industry’s reaction to her role in the erotic thriller “Emmanuelle”.
“Everyone around said: “Aren’t you afraid? Do you know what happened to Sylvia Kristel (who played the role of Emmanuelle in the scandalous film of the same name in 1974, socialbites.ca)? Aren’t you afraid of being pushed into the background and excluded in the industry? When I heard this, I told myself that even though I was scared, I was still in the right place. If there is fear, there is also a chance to take risks. If people are afraid, we are talking about something important,” Merlan said.
He also admitted that before filming he knew almost nothing about the novel Emmanuelle Arsan, which formed the basis of the film: “I knew absolutely nothing about Emmanuelle, neither the book nor the film (1974 – socialbites.ca). All I knew was that the picture made a lot of noise when it was published.”
Frenchwoman Noémie Merlant is known for her roles in the films Portrait of a Hot Lady, Heartbreaker, Jumbo, Deadly Night in Paris and Shopaholic.
