Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky deprived many Russian artists of Ukraine’s state awards. This is stated in a message on the official website of the Zelensky administration.
Singers Nikolai Baskov and Philip Kirkorov received the title of “People’s Artist of Ukraine” and lost the same title. Alexander Malinin and composer Igor Krutoy. Singers of Ukrainian origin Ani Lorak and Taisiya Povaliy were deprived of the status of Honored Artists of Ukraine.
Director Vladimir Bortko and Bolshoi Theater director Valery Gergiev were also deprived of state awards.
In total, Zelensky’s decree canceled various state awards and awards previously awarded to 34 people. Among them were former Ukrainian officials, members of parliament, artists, religious leaders and lawyers.
